why do car designs differ?
A car's design has an important effect on its performance,the speed at which itr travels and the amount of fuel it uses.Fashion also influences the styling of new models.The first cars were called horseless cariages.And they were just that:a vehicle builtby a traditional coach-builder but with a motor instead of a horse.Each chassis was built by hand and there was a large variety of styles.In the 1820s when factory mass production was introduced,styles become more standard.The classic car of this period is a sedate box on wheels.In the 1950s and 1960s especially in the USA ,the fashion was for large 'gas-guzzlers' withhuge fins and bumpers.Since 1973,when oil prices started to rise,smaller and more economical cars have been in fashion.The more streamlined a car the more smoothly air flows round it as it moves along and the less fuel it will use.The trend is for car designs to become more Streamlined.
